About the Wine Club

This wine club has been going since 2019, but it was a long time in the making before that. We’ve been exploring Hungarian wine for more than a decade—researching, organizing tours, running tastings, and selling wine at The Tasting Table Budapest. 

Now we’ve turned this around, and through our regular curated shipments of small-batch wines, we are happy to be bringing the wine directly into the homes of wine lover’s in the US. Our Wine Club features unique, high quality, affordable wines that represent the full range of Hungarian wine. Our portfolio is singularly focused on Hungarian wine, particularly on the smaller and family-owned producers who we have been visiting for years.

The club is for anyone who either already loves Hungarian wine and wants to further explore it, or anyone who loves good wine and is curious about trying new things. Our primary goal has always been providing education on Hungarian wine, and we are committed to sharing our love for Hungarian wine culture by bringing you these unique and exciting small-batch wines. Our import/online retail business is based in Washington DC.

What You Will Get

  • 4 wine shipments a year. You choose either 6 or 12 bottles each time (shipping is free with 12 bottles). See the detailed shipping costs.
  • Unique, high quality wines, mostly from smaller and family-owned producers, which we’ve specially chosen for club members. Each shipment has a unifying theme (such as focus on a particular region, soil type, winemaker, varietal, or a contrast between styles/regions/varietals).
  • Wines in the club selection are always discounted! The same wines cost more through our online shop.
  • Our educational packet —recipe pairings, tasting notes, and information on the regions, varietals, and winemakers— is included with each shipment.
  • Join a complimentary wine tasting (for yourself and one guest) at The Tasting Table, our wine cellar in Budapest, when you travel to Hungary! Just let us know in advance so we can coordinate the date and time with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll get a mixed box of six wines shipped to you every three months. If you are a Magnum club member, you’ll get 12 bottles (plus free shipping). Each shipment comes with our educational packet, which includes tasting notes, a Taste Hungary recipe card, and other information to help you learn about the wines, varietals, and regions. We hope the wine inspires you to travel to Hungary to taste it (and other wines) from the source!  As a current club member you will be our guest at a wine tasting at The Tasting Table, our wine tasting cellar in Budapest.

We’ve been active in wine for the past decade in Hungary. We spend lots of time researching and, organizing tours, running tastings, and selling wine at The Tasting Table Budapest. During this time we’ve met with so many small wine producers who sell affordable, unique, and high-quality wines, and we will continue to do so! We choose the wines that we import together with our team of sommeliers in Budapest.

There are no additional membership fees, and no commitment. When you sign up for a membership we will continue to send you a box of six wines every three months until you cancel your membership. Your credit card will be charged automatically four times per year, a few weeks before each shipment. You can cancel at any time before the next charge to discontinue your membership.

Purchasing through our site is done safely and securely using Stipe, an accredited third-party financial institution which handles the processing through their own protected servers. Wine Club memberships are charged on a quarterly basis on the first day of the months of March, June, September, and December.

6-bottle membership: ($139 + 10.25  percent sales tax + applicable shipping)

Magnum (12-bottle) membership: ($278 + 10.25  percent sales tax + applicable shipping)

By clicking the “I have read and agree” button on the bottom of the order form, you give Tasting Table LLC the right to charge the credit card number you provided. On your credit card statement the charge will appear as from “Tasting Table Budapest LLC.”

You can cancel your membership, and the next shipment, at any time before you are billed for it (which is the 1st day of the shipping months of September, December, March, and June). To cancel, just send an email to wineclub@tastehungary.com or login to your account to make the cancellation.
